Piano Repairs
Lawrence continues to tune on a daily basis, and take on internal action, pedal and stringing repairs on all acoustic pianos, provided they are of standard worth working on, with regular straightforward tuning.
Customers often request pitch raising to concert pitch, A440, but also the current trend for some orchestras and indeed individuals is a preference for A441 or A442, and we are happy to facilitate this.
All manner of action repairs can be undertaken, from tapes, tape ends, balance hammer leathers, damper felts, burnishing, damper springs, spiral springs, hammer head refacing or replacement, hammer shank repairs, pedal springs replacement and re-stringing plus many more with prices all on application.
Typical costs:
Straightforward tunings are priced at a competitive £70.00 with pitch raisers typically taking three big tunings over the course of four or five months, costing around an estimate of £250, with any possible string-breakages, an extra, which will be discussed before the start of the job.
Recent customer tuning jobs
Lawrence has tuned for the last decade at the Mike Durham’s Jazz Party a.k.a Whitley Bay Jazz Festival at the Village Hotel in Shiremoor. This annual October/November event features some of the best Jazz musicians from the US and Europe descending on the North East.
